Willow the warbler had sunny yellow feathers. But her heart fluttered like a leaf in the wind.
The annual Bird Concert was coming! Willow loved music, but her voice felt shaky.
She imagined singing on stage, all eyes watching. Her tiny throat felt tight.
"Cheer up, Willow!" chirped Red, a brilliant cardinal. "You have a beautiful song!"
Red's fiery feathers glowed. "Professor Owl needs you! We'll practice together, every day."
So, Willow tried. Her first notes were soft, almost a whisper, in her cozy nest.
Every morning, Red would arrive. They practiced among the dew-kissed leaves.
Willow's voice grew a little stronger. She learned new melodies, trills, and warbles.
One day, a curious squirrel peeked. Willow stopped, her voice shrinking again.
"Don't mind them," Red whispered. "Just sing for *us*. For the joy of it."
Willow closed her eyes and sang. The squirrel twitched its nose and scampered away.
Days turned into weeks. Willow practiced near the gurgling stream, then in open meadows.
Finally, the big day arrived! Fireflies twinkled around the mossy concert stage.
Willow’s heart thumped a frantic rhythm. Her throat felt tight, just like before.
