📖 Read the Story

Willow loved her garden. Her tiny hands helped flowers grow. Bright petals danced in the sun.

Fluttering friends often visited. Orange, yellow, and blue wings. They danced among the blooms.

One sunny morning, something was missing. No tiny wings flew by. Where did the butterflies go?

Willow looked and looked. Her garden felt quiet now. A little sigh escaped her lips.

She walked to her neighbor's fence. Mr. Garcia knew many garden secrets. He was watering his tomatoes.

"Mr. Garcia," Willow asked softly. "My butterflies are all gone." He smiled kindly at her.

"Butterflies need special plants," he said. "Their babies, caterpillars, eat milkweed." No milkweed, no butterflies.

Milkweed? Willow had never seen it. She wanted her butterfly friends back. Her eyes sparkled with a new idea.

"I have some milkweed seeds," Mr. Garcia offered. "Let's make a special place." Willow clapped her hands with joy!

Together, they dug little holes. Willow carefully placed tiny seeds. Mr. Garcia showed her how to water.
