📖 Read the Story

Maya loved visiting Grandma Rose's farm. She wore her purple glasses and her special hearing aid, ready for adventure.

The farm was buzzing! Golden cornstalks stood tall, and fat orange pumpkins dotted the fields. Harvest season was Maya's favorite.

Soon, the Annual Pumpkin Patch Festival would fill the farm with laughter and fun. Everyone was getting ready!

Maya walked through the cornfield, admiring the tall stalks. But something felt different this year. Something was missing.

Where is the old scarecrow? she wondered. Usually, he stood guard, watching over the precious corn.

Then, Maya heard it. A loud "CAW! CAW!" Her hearing aid helped her catch every sound. Crows!

A flock of big, black crows swooped down, pecking at the sweet corn kernels. They were having a feast!

Maya ran to Grandma Rose. "Grandma! The scarecrow is gone, and the crows are eating all the corn!" she exclaimed.

Grandma sighed. "Oh dear, you're right, sweet pea. The old one fell apart. We need a new scarecrow, fast!"

Maya thought hard. She looked around the farmyard. "We can build a new one!" she declared, her eyes sparkling.

"But what can we use?" asked Grandma. Maya pointed. "Look! Old clothes, pots, and shiny things! Crows don't like shiny!"

Together, they gathered treasures: a floppy hat, a bright blue shirt, sturdy old jeans, and a rusty watering can.

Grandma helped Maya stuff the clothes with straw. They made a big, friendly body. "He needs a head!" Maya giggled.

For the head, they used an old pillowcase, drawing big, friendly eyes and a wide smile. They tied on the floppy hat.
