Anya loved collecting smooth, shiny stones. Her bright purple braids bounced as she skipped.
Every day, she passed Mrs. Rodriguez’s garden. It was always a riot of color!
But today, something was different. A tall sunflower looked droopy and sad.
Its bright yellow petals were dull. "Oh dear," Anya whispered. "What's wrong?"
Mrs. Rodriguez appeared, watering her petunias. "Hello, Anya! My poor sunflower."
Just then, Carlos walked by. His cool blue hearing aid peeked out.
Carlos knew everything about plants. Anya had an idea! "Maybe Carlos can help!"
Anya explained the sad sunflower. Carlos knelt down, observing closely.
"Its soil is dry," Carlos declared. "And look! A big shadow covers it."
Anya saw it now. A giant oak tree blocked the warm sunshine.
"Sunflowers need lots of sun and water," Carlos explained, tapping his chin thoughtfully.
Mrs. Rodriguez joined them. "So, my poor sunflower is thirsty and cold!"
"We need to give it light!" Anya exclaimed. "And water!"
Mrs. Rodriguez smiled. "We can carefully prune the tree's branches. Just a little bit."
