Kai loved to draw. His pencils danced across the paper, bringing to life dragons, soaring birds, and fantastical cities. His tiny apartment was filled with his colorful creations.
Outside, the city roared. Tall buildings scraped the clouds, and busy streets hummed with endless noise. Kai often wondered what secrets those towering giants held.
One sunny afternoon, a lost paper airplane led Kai on an adventure. Up, up, up he climbed, past familiar floors, to a door heβd never noticed before.
With a gentle push, the heavy door groaned open. Kai gasped. He had found the very top of his building! The city stretched out beneath him like a giant map.
But this wasn't just a roof. It was a forgotten garden! Dusty concrete, cracked paths, and dry, brown weeds stretched across the space. It felt lonely and sad.
Kai pulled out his sketchbook. He saw not just weeds, but possibilities! His pencil flew, filling the page with vibrant flowers, juicy tomatoes, and leafy green plants.
The next day, Kai returned. He brought a small trowel and a watering can. He started to clear a tiny patch, humming a quiet tune. It was hard work.
"What are you doing up here, little one?" a soft voice asked. It was Mrs. Elena, from the fifth floor. She peered over the edge, a small potted plant in her hand.
Kai showed her his drawing. "I want to make this rooftop beautiful," he explained, "a place where green things can grow, high above the city."
Mrs. Elena smiled. "My dear, I used to have a garden just like that." She brought seeds and small pots. Together, they planted tiny hopes.
Soon, others noticed. Leo, from the third floor, brought bright paints for rocks. Mr. Henderson, usually busy, helped carry bags of soil. The rooftop slowly began to awaken.
Green shoots pushed through the soil. Painted rocks became cheerful garden markers. The rooftop, once forgotten, now buzzed with quiet energy and shared laughter.
Kai's imagination bloomed. He painted a mural of climbing vines and bright flowers on a bare wall. His art brought even more life to their growing garden.
Weeks passed. The sun warmed the soil, and gentle rains nourished the plants. Soon, the first juicy tomatoes, crisp lettuce, and sweet carrots were ready to pick!
