Rosie the raccoon loved shiny things! Her fluffy grey tail swished as she explored Whispering Woods Park. Her bandit mask hid bright, curious eyes always searching.
One sunny morning, Rosie padded softly through the tall grass. 'What new sparkle will I find today?' she wondered, her nose twitching with excitement.
Suddenly, something glinted under a big oak tree! Rosie's nimble paws carefully picked up a beautiful, heart-shaped locket. It was silver and very shiny.
This wasn't just any shiny thing. It felt important. Rosie gently opened it. Inside, two tiny, faded pictures smiled back at her.
A little frown creased Rosie's furry brow. 'Someone must be missing this,' she thought. It wasn't hers to keep, even though it was so pretty.
Rosie knew what she had to do. She tucked the locket safely into her small pouch. She would find its rightful owner! But where to begin?
Rosie knew just the friend to ask. She scampered to the tallest oak tree, where Oliver the owl usually perched. 'Oliver!' she called softly.
Oliver, with his wise amber eyes and tiny spectacles, blinked slowly. He was kind and remembered everything. 'Hello, Rosie,' he hooted gently.
Rosie showed him the locket. 'I found this, Oliver. It's lost! I want to return it, but I don't know whose it is.'
Oliver thought for a moment. 'Hmm,' he hooted. 'We can ask the park animals. And I have a very good memory for faces.'
They started near the sunny meadow. 'I remember a little girl playing here yesterday,' Oliver recalled. 'She had a bright red ribbon.'
Rosie spotted Squeaky the squirrel. 'Excuse me, Squeaky,' she chirped. 'Have you seen anyone looking for a shiny locket?'
Squeaky twitched his nose. 'I saw a girl with a red ribbon looking sad near the stream,' he chattered. 'She was holding her neck.'
Rosie and Oliver hurried to the winding stream. 'The locket must have fallen off there,' Oliver observed, his eyes scanning the path.
