Lily lived in a sunny town. Her long brown braids bounced. Summer holidays were finally here!
Sam lived right next door. He always wore his red cap. Sam liked quiet games alone.
Lily saw the dusty town square. "A garden would be lovely!" she thought. Flowers and fresh, green veggies!
She decided to help. A lemonade stand! To earn money for seeds.
Lily ran to Sam's house. "Want to help me, Sam?" she asked. "For a community garden!"
Sam shook his head slowly. "No thanks," he mumbled. He liked playing alone best.
Lily didn't give up. She set up her stand. Pink lemonade, sweet and tart.
Sam watched from his window. Lily smiled at everyone. People bought her lemonade.
She gave a free cup. To Mrs. Gable, who looked tired. Mrs. Gable smiled brightly.
Sam saw the happy faces. A tiny spark grew inside him. Maybe helping was fun?
