When a severe drought threatens her village, a resourceful girl named Saanvi inspires her community to work together and dig deeper, bringing life-giving water back to their parched land.
📖 Read the Story
Saanvi, a girl with bright, curious eyes and long, braided hair, loved her colourful bangles.
She lived in Dharti Gaon, a small village nestled among golden fields, usually green and full of life.
But a long, hot sun had baked the earth. The fields were dry, and the air felt heavy with worry.
One morning, Saanvi went to the village well, her bangles jingling softly with every step.
She peered inside. "Oh dear!" she whispered. The water level was very, very low, just a tiny puddle.
Later, she saw farmers, like Uncle Ravi, sadly shaking their heads. Their crops needed water to grow.
Saanvi thought hard, twirling a bright blue bangle. "What if we made the well deeper?" she wondered.
She bravely approached Dadi Maa, the village elder with wise, smiling eyes and a colourful sari.
"Dadi Maa," Saanvi said, "if we all work together, perhaps we can dig the well deeper and find more water!"
Dadi Maa smiled. "A wonderful idea, little one! Let us gather everyone." She called out to the villagers.
Soon, men, women, and older children arrived, carrying shovels and baskets. Hope sparked in their eyes.
They began by carefully cleaning out the well, removing stones and debris. Saanvi helped carry small rocks.
Then, with strong arms and shared effort, they started to dig, deeper and deeper into the earth.
It was hard work, and some felt tired. But Saanvi’s jingly bangles reminded them to keep trying.
