This is Leo, a lion cub with a magnificent, golden mane and bright, curious eyes. He loved big ideas!

And this is his little sister, Maya. Her fur was soft as moonlight, and she had gentle, thoughtful eyes.

They played in a wide, sunny meadow, where wildflowers danced and tall grass tickled their paws.

"Maya!" Leo roared, his voice already quite strong. "Let's play The Great Roar Race!"

"We'll find the loudest sound in the whole meadow! We'll visit all the 'creatures'!"

Maya’s tail drooped a little. Her own roar was more of a quiet squeak.

First, they visited the Grumpy Old Oak, a towering tree with gnarled, twisted branches.

"ROAR!" shouted Leo, shaking the leaves. "What's your sound, Old Oak?"

A deep, rumbling breeze rustled through the leaves. "Hoo-hoo-hooo," it seemed to whisper.

Next, they found the Sleepy Stone Giant, a smooth, mossy rock warmed by the sun.

"My turn," Maya whispered, taking a deep breath. "Mee-ow!" she tried, a tiny sound.

The rock hummed softly from the heat, a low, quiet drone. Leo nodded. "Hmm, interesting."

Maya felt a little tear prickle her eye. Her sound wasn't big enough for this race.

Then, Maya spotted a delicate little flower, swaying gently. "Look, Leo! A Whisper-Bird!"
