The Day Christie Was a Fox

This is Christie. She has bright red hair and a secret. Christie felt, deep inside, she was a clever little fox!

She often wiggled her nose, twitching imaginary whiskers. Sometimes, her invisible fox ears perked up, listening closely!

Today was Show-and-Tell! Christie’s tummy did a happy flip. What wonderful thing would she share with her friends?

Mr. Piffle clapped his hands. "Our theme today is 'My Favorite Thing'!" He beamed at the class. "Who wants to start?"

Barnaby went first. He showed his perfectly polished, grey rock. "It’s very orderly," he declared. Mr. Piffle nodded.

Next, Lily giggled, showing her sparkly unicorn sticker book. "It's so shiny and magical!" she squealed. Everyone smiled.

Now it was Christie’s turn. A little fox-prickle tickled her nose. She knew exactly what her favorite thing was!

Christie decided to *be* her favorite thing! She dropped to all fours. She was going to be a fox for Show-and-Tell!

She wiggled her imaginary tail and let out a happy "Woof-yip!" It was a very foxy sound, she thought!

Mr. Piffle blinked. "Christie, dear," he said slowly, "are you... a puppy?" He tilted his head, looking quite puzzled.

Barnaby gasped! "Foxes don't woof, Mr. Piffle! They bark and yip!" He knew his animal facts.

Lily burst into giggles. "She's a very funny fox!" she squealed. Christie felt a happy flutter.

Christie decided to show them properly! She pounced on a soft cushion. *Boing!* Just like a real fox!
