Dorothy, with her ruby slippers twinkling, led the way through a shimmering Ozian meadow. Her faithful dog, Toto, bounded ahead, sniffing every curious bloom. Behind her, Rachel, sketchbook in hand, dreamed of new colors, while practical Jenny carefully observed every curious mushroom they passed.

Their incredible journey had already shown them emerald cities and munchkin villages. Each turn brought a new wonder, a fresh challenge, and a chance for adventure. Today, a soft, unfamiliar glow beckoned them deeper into an enchanted forest, promising something extraordinary.

Pushing aside a curtain of shimmering, vine-like tendrils, they gasped. Before them lay a river, but unlike any they had ever seen. Its waters were supposed to be a cascade of rainbows, yet it flowed with only the faintest, saddest, gray-tinged colors.

"Oh, dear," whispered Rachel, her artistic heart aching at the sight. "It looks so… shy." Jenny nodded, pointing a small finger. "See? The colors are hiding, like they're afraid to come out and play." Toto whimpered, sensing the river's quiet sorrow.

Suddenly, a shower of tiny, iridescent sparkles drifted down from the sky, swirling gently around them. Glinda the Good Witch wasn't there in person, but her magical presence was unmistakable, a comforting whisper of encouragement in the quiet air.

The sparkles danced, forming shimmering patterns in the air, then coalesced into a single, glowing word: "COURAGE." Then they winked out, leaving the girls to ponder Glinda's mysterious message. Courage for whom? The river, or themselves?

Dorothy, ever brave, stepped closer to the river's edge. "Maybe the river needs our courage," she declared, her voice firm. "But how do you give courage to a river? We can't just tell it to be brave!"

Rachel, ever the dreamer, closed her eyes. "Perhaps if we imagine the colors, really, truly imagine them, they'll remember how to shine!" She began to describe vibrant reds, sunny yellows, and deep, sparkling blues, painting pictures with her words.

Jenny, always practical, rummaged in her small pouch. "Imagination is good, Rachel, but maybe it needs a little help from the real world." She pulled out a handful of shiny, smooth pebbles. "What if we give it something pretty to reflect?"

They tried Rachel's idea first. The three sisters stood by the river, concentrating hard, picturing the most magnificent rainbows. They closed their eyes, wishing with all their might for the colors to return. But the river remained stubbornly dim.

Next, Jenny carefully tossed her shiny pebbles into the water, one by one. Each pebble made a tiny splash, sending ripples across the surface. For a moment, a faint shimmer appeared, but then it faded, leaving the river as shy as before.

"Oh, dear," sighed Dorothy, feeling a tiny prickle of frustration. "It's harder than I thought to make a river brave!" Toto nudged her hand gently with his nose, as if to say, "Don't give up! We'll find a way!"

Just then, more sparkles descended, brighter and more numerous this time. They swirled, not forming words, but dancing in a playful, swirling pattern. It was as if Glinda was reminding them to have fun, to be creative, to work *together*.

"Together!" exclaimed Rachel, her eyes widening with a sudden flash of inspiration. "What if we combine our ideas? What if we *make* the colors, and then give the river something to reflect, but in a bigger, bolder way?"

Jenny's eyes lit up. "We could gather all the most colorful flowers and leaves from the forest! And Dorothy, you could use your ruby slippers to make the water dance, to encourage the colors to swirl!"

With renewed energy, the sisters sprang into action. Rachel carefully picked blossoms of every hue – scarlet, violet, goldenrod. Jenny collected broad, emerald leaves and shiny, iridescent beetle wings. Toto barked, helping them find the brightest treasures.

Dorothy, meanwhile, stood at the river's edge, her ruby slippers gleaming. She remembered Glinda's words about courage. Taking a deep breath, she tapped her heels together, not to go home, but to send a wave of bravery and magic into the water.
