📖 Read the Story
Maya and Mateo lived high in the Andes Mountains. Their village was bright and beautiful.
Soon, it was time for the annual village festival! Abuela Rosa needed help.
"Will you help decorate the alpaca statues?" Abuela asked with a twinkle in her eye.
Many plain clay alpacas waited for colors and patterns! They looked so bare.
Maya loved bright, swirling colors. "Let's paint rainbows and flowers!" she exclaimed.
Mateo preferred neat, straight lines. "No, geometric shapes and earth tones are best!" he decided.
"My way is prettier!" Maya insisted. "My way is perfect!" Mateo argued back.
Abuela watched them, her kind eyes full of understanding. She smiled softly.
"Why not try both ideas?" Abuela suggested gently. "One alpaca for each of you."
Maya painted her alpaca with vibrant swirls, pinks, and yellows. It looked joyful!
