In sunny Baryo Saging lived Tambi, a boy with more bounce than a rubber ball! His hair stuck up like a startled bird's nest, and his mismatched socks were legendary. He loved to play, play, play!
Tambi thought he was a 'plant stylist.' He'd snip-snip-snip at bushes, making them look like wobbly green clouds. 'Perfect!' he'd declare, as the bush sagged with a sigh.
He loved to 'tickle' trees, too! He'd pull their leaves, thinking they were giggling. 'More tickles!' he'd shout, as the poor tree shed its leaves like confetti, groaning softly.
The villagers would chuckle. 'There goes Tambi, the tree-wiggler!' Aling Nena would try to catch him for a bath, but Tambi was faster than a startled rabbit. Zoom!
One sunny afternoon, Tambi decided the village plants needed a break. 'Time for new friends!' he declared. He skipped into the Whispering Woods, looking for fresh playmates.
Deeper and deeper he went, until he saw it: the grandest, wobbliest, most magnificent tree ever! 'Oh, what a splendid tree to tickle!' he exclaimed, rubbing his hands together.
Suddenly, the ancient tree began to shimmer! A soft, golden light pulsed from its trunk. Tambi's eyes widened. 'Ooh! Is it a glow-in-the-dark tree? Best game ever!'
From the glowing light, stepped Ina ng Lahat ng Puno! Her leafy hair rustled, and she let out a very dramatic, 'Hoooo-hum!' She looked at Tambi with a gentle, knowing smile.
'Tambi,' she sighed, 'my children, the trees, are not toys for tickling. Your 'play' makes them feel quite wobbly and their leaves fall off!' Tambi scratched his head. 'Children?'
Tambi looked around. The trees seemed to nod sadly. One old mango tree had a branch that looked like it was pouting. Another tiny sapling looked utterly terrified. Tambi's cheerful grin wobbled.
'But worry not, little whirlwind,' Ina ng Lahat ng Puno said with a wink. 'I have a special kind of playtime for you! A game where you can truly help my leafy children.'
With a flourish of her staff, a shower of sparkly, rainbow-colored light poured over Tambi. It felt warm and tingly, like a thousand tiny butterflies tickling his nose. Tambi giggled uncontrollably!
'Whoa!' Tambi exclaimed, as his feet rooted into the earth. His arms stretched upwards, sprouting tiny, green leaves. He wiggled his toes, but they were stuck! 'Am I a tree now?' he laughed.
He was! A little, leafy tree! He tried to run, but his roots held him fast. So, he wiggled his branches instead, making his tiny leaves dance. 'This is a funny game!' he cheered.
