📖 Read the Story
Sasha loved her garden most of all. It was her own little world.
She carefully watered her tiny tomato plants and whispered to her flowers.
Sasha had come from far away, from a beautiful place called Russia.
She knew many Russian words, like "spasibo" for thank you.
But her new neighbors spoke different words, like "hello" and "hola."
Sasha wanted to share her juicy, ripe red tomatoes.
She wanted to give Mrs. Rodriguez a bright yellow sunflower.
But when she tried to speak, the words felt stuck.
One sunny morning, Sasha had a wonderful idea!
She picked her biggest, reddest tomato.
Sasha walked to Mr. Henderson’s gate. She held out the tomato.
“Tomato!” he said, with a kind smile. Sasha nodded, "Tomato!"
Next, Sasha carried a bright yellow zucchini to Mrs. Rodriguez.
“¡Calabacín!” Mrs. Rodriguez exclaimed, her eyes sparkling.
