Ruby and the Question of Q

Ruby loved books more than anything. Her bright red pigtails bounced as she skipped to her cozy reading nook, a stack of stories in her arms.

One rainy afternoon, she found a book unlike any other. Its cover shimmered with all the colors of the rainbow, and no title was written.

As Ruby opened the magical book, a gentle breeze swirled around her. The pages glowed brighter, pulling her closer with a whisper.

*Whoosh!* In a blink, Ruby was no longer in her room. She stood on soft, mossy ground under a sky painted pink, orange, and purple.

Trees with letter-shaped leaves swayed gently, and flowers bloomed like punctuation marks. "Oh my!" Ruby whispered, her eyes wide with delight.

A cheerful, yellow letter bounced towards her. "Hello! I'm U! Welcome to Alphabet Land!" it chirped, with little sparkly shoes.

"I'm Ruby," she replied, giggling. "It's wonderful here!" Then she noticed a quiet, periwinkle letter sitting alone nearby, its little crown drooping.

"That's Q," U explained, its voice a little softer. "Q feels a bit lonely. It always needs me to make words, you see."

Ruby walked closer to Q. "Why do you feel lonely, Q?" she asked gently. Q's curly tail gave a tiny, sad wiggle.

"I feel incomplete," Q mumbled. "Like I'm only half a letter without U. What good am I all by myself?"

Ruby looked at Q's round, elegant shape, and its unique, swirly tail. "But Q, your shape is so special!" she exclaimed.

"You could be a quiet, cozy curl for someone to rest in!" Ruby suggested, tracing Q's roundness in the air.

Or, she continued, "You could be a perfect pattern piece for a beautiful, quilted blanket!" Q's tail wiggled a little more.
