Rory and the Echo Adventure

Rory, a red squirrel with a magnificent bushy tail, was ready for adventure! Today, he was Captain Rory, the Sky Pirate!

He imagined sailing his leafy ship through the sky, searching for hidden acorn treasures. "A-hoy, mateys!" he whispered.

Suddenly, a tiny brown blur appeared. It was Nutkin, Rory’s little brother, wiggling his small, fluffy tail.

"Can I play, Rory?" Nutkin chirped, trying to copy Rory’s pirate stance. He even had a tiny leaf-hat, a bit too big and askew.

Rory sighed, his bushy red tail twitching. "Nutkin, this is 'Sky Pirate Adventure'! I need to be alone to find the treasure."

Nutkin’s little face drooped. He just wanted to play with his big brother. He loved Rory’s games best of all.

Just then, wise Grandma Squirrel arrived, carrying her woven basket. Her silvery-grey fur shone softly in the sun.

"What's the trouble, my little acorns?" she asked, her voice soft and kind, full of understanding.

Rory gestured with his paws. "Nutkin always copies! I want to play my own games sometimes, Grandma!"

Grandma Squirrel chuckled. "Perhaps you need a special game, where copying is the best part! Let's play 'Copycat Cave'!"

She led them to a hollow in a big old tree. "Rory, you're the Leader. Nutkin, you're the Echo. Make the best echo!"

Rory still wasn't sure. He tried a simple jump. *Boing!* Nutkin copied him, *boing!* but a little wobbly and late.

"Hmm," said Rory, tapping a paw to his chin. "That echo isn't quite right. Maybe if I jump slower, and you watch my paws?"
