Peyton and Jasper's Purr-fect Day

Hi! My name is Peyton. Today is super special! I’m getting my nails done, sparkly pink! Then new clothes, yay!

Next, Kmart for my favorite fizzy drink and a yummy ice cream cone. My tummy is already rumbling with excitement!

But the *most* exciting part? We’re getting a new cat! I hoped to find a truly special one today.

I had a dream cat named Jasper. He's light brown, with bright blue eyes, black ears, mouth, paws, and tail.

At the pet store, my heart sank. "Jasper is already adopted," the kind lady said. Oh no! My dream cat was gone.

We looked at other cats, but none felt right. They weren't *my* Jasper. I felt so disappointed and glum.

The next morning, Mom had news! "Good news first, Peyton," she smiled. "Jasper is back at the store!"

"But there's bad news," Mom continued. "He costs a lot of money, a thousand dollars!" My eyes widened in shock.

Mom said, "He's special, and worth it." This afternoon, Jasper would finally come home! I bounced with glee.

Jasper arrived! He was just as I imagined. I gently picked him up, feeling his soft, warm fur.

I tried to play with him, but he just sat there. He seemed a bit sleepy. "This is boring," I mumbled.

Mom explained, "New cats need quiet time to feel safe, Peyton. He's getting used to his new home and family."

*Ding-dong!* My best friend, Evie, was here! "Let's play with Jasper!" she cheered, full of fun ideas.
