Paco the puppy loved to play. His big, floppy, golden-brown ears bounced when he ran. He had a happy, wagging tail.
But Paco had a secret worry. He tried to bark like his friends. "Woof! Woof!" went the big dogs.
Paco opened his mouth wide. He tried his very hardest. Only a tiny squeak came out. He felt very different.
One sunny afternoon, Paco visited Mrs. Turtle. She lived in a garden full of tall, bright flowers. She was very old and very wise.
"Hello, Paco," Mrs. Turtle said softly. "Why the long face today, little one?" Paco sighed a puppy sigh.
Paco told her about his quiet voice. "I can't bark like everyone else," he whispered. Mrs. Turtle listened carefully.
"Hmm," Mrs. Turtle hummed. "Perhaps you have a different sound inside you." She gently tapped her smooth, green shell.
Paco tried making new sounds. He hummed a little. He made a soft, warbling noise. It felt nice.
Then, a beautiful melody floated out! It was a sweet, gentle song. Paco's ears perked up with delight. He was singing!
Paco practiced his singing every day. He sang to the butterflies. He sang to the swaying flowers. His voice grew stronger.
