He held his favorite pebble. Grandpa Otter gave it to him. It was very special.
Oliver played near the old mill. The river rushed and gurgled by.
Splash! Oh dear! The special pebble slipped away! It was gone!
Oliver felt very sad. "Where did it go?" he wondered. The river was too fast.
He knew who could help! Beatrice Beaver! She was very clever.
"My special pebble is lost!" Oliver cried. "The river took it!"
Beatrice nodded. "We will find it, little one. We just need to think."
They searched the rushing water. Upstream, downstream! But the river was too quick.
The river was fast! It swirled and twirled around them. It was tricky.
