Meet Nina, a clever newt with shiny green skin. She lived in a beautiful, sparkling pond.

The pond was full of life! Dragonflies zipped, fish swam, and soft lily pads floated.

Nina loved to explore every corner. Her bright, curious eyes were always searching for something new.

One sunny morning, Nina noticed something strange. The water felt much lower than usual.

"Hmm," she thought, wiggling her slender tail. "Where has our lovely water gone?"

The pond was shrinking! Muddy banks appeared, and the water grew shallow. Nina felt a worried flutter.

She knew just who to ask. Ferdinand, the wise old frog, always had good ideas.

Ferdinand sat on his favorite mossy log. "The stream," he croaked softly. "We must follow it."

Together, Nina and Ferdinand set off. Nina scampered, Ferdinand hopped slowly but surely.

They followed the winding stream, past tall reeds and under shady, whispering trees.

Suddenly, they stopped. A giant wall of sticks and mud completely blocked the water!

"A beaver dam!" gasped Nina. "That's why our pond is drying up!"

Ferdinand stroked his chin. "The busy beavers built it for their cozy home," he explained gently.

"But our home needs water too!" Nina thought hard, her clever mind whirring with ideas.
