Nia the nightingale loved to sing. Her sweet songs filled Whispering Woods.
Tonight was special. Baby animals waited. Nia would sing their sleepy lullabies.
Nia opened her beak... But no sound came out! Only a tiny squeak.
Oh dear! Nia felt a tear fall. Her beautiful voice was gone.
Finley the fox saw her sad face. Hazel the hedgehog waddled closer.
"What's wrong, dear Nia?" asked Finley. Hazel patted her wing gently.
Nia chirped softly, pointing to her throat. "No songs for the sleepy babies."
Finley thought hard, tapping his paw. "Maybe you don't need your voice!"
Hazel found a shiny, smooth pebble. She tapped it gently on a leaf. *Tap-tap-tap.*
Nia watched. Her eyes sparkled. She picked up a tiny, hollow reed.
