Nia and the Shimmering Falls

Nia had the brightest beads in her hair. Red, yellow, blue, and green, they sparkled like tiny jewels.

One sunny afternoon, Nia explored her grandfather’s dusty study, full of forgotten treasures.

Tucked behind some old books, she found a crinkly, rolled-up map. It felt very old.

The map was faded, showing tall mountains and a winding river. A big 'X' marked one spot.

Nia leaned closer. "Hidden Waterfalls," it read, next to a drawing of tumbling water.

Her grandfather often told stories of the Great Smoky Mountains, where he grew up.

Nia felt a flutter of excitement, but also a tiny worry. Those mountain peaks looked very high.

Suddenly, her little brother, Leo, bounced into the room. "What's that, Nia?" he asked.

Nia carefully unrolled the map. Leo’s eyes grew wide, sparkling with instant adventure.

"Hidden Waterfalls!" Leo exclaimed. "Let's go find them, Nia! Please, please!"

Nia looked out the window towards distant hills, her expression thoughtful and a little hesitant. The map is still in her hand.

Leo squeezed her hand. "Together, we can do anything!" he declared bravely.

With a deep breath, Nia nodded. They packed a snack and set off for the mountains.
