Mika and the Thirsty Blossom Tree

Mika loved exploring her garden. It was a special place, full of buzzing bees and colorful butterflies dancing between the flowers. Every morning, she would peek out her window, excited for a new discovery.

Her absolute favorite was the old cherry blossom tree. Its branches usually danced with soft pink flowers, like tiny, joyful ballerinas twirling in the spring breeze. But today, something felt different.

The blossoms were dry and crumbly, not soft and fresh. The leaves were curled and brown, not green and lively. Even the ground around its wide, ancient roots was cracked and thirsty, like a desert.

"Oh, dear tree," Mika whispered, her hazel eyes filled with concern. Her heart felt a little heavy, seeing her beloved tree so sad. "You look so thirsty and tired. What can I do to help you feel better?"

Mika thought hard, tapping her chin. She remembered how her own small potted plants perked up after a drink. "Trees need water, just like us!" she realized with a sudden, bright idea.

She hurried inside, found her small blue watering can, and carefully filled it with cool, clear water from the kitchen tap. It was a little heavy, but Mika was determined to help her friend.

Carefully, Mika poured the water around the tree's roots. "Drink up, dear tree," she encouraged softly, watching the dry earth eagerly soak in every drop. It disappeared quickly into the thirsty ground.

She knew trees drink water through their roots, like tiny straws hidden underground. This water travels up the trunk and branches, all the way to the leaves and flowers, giving them life.

Mika didn't stop there. Every day, after breakfast, she visited the tree with her watering can, making sure it had enough to drink. She even spoke softly to it, sharing her garden secrets.

Slowly, slowly, a wonderful change began. First, the dry leaves looked a little less crumpled. Then, tiny, fresh green buds appeared where the old, sad flowers had been.

The tree was waking up! Its branches started to stretch, reaching for the warm sun, which helps them make their food. Mika felt a flutter of excitement in her tummy, like a happy butterfly.

One sunny morning, Mika gasped! Soft, delicate pink blossoms had burst open, like tiny, joyful whispers. The tree was covered in a breathtaking cloud of fragrant color.

The tree grew taller and stronger, its branches reaching "so high" into the bright blue sky. Bees buzzed happily among the new, sweet-smelling flowers, collecting nectar.
