Mei and the Mountain's Whisper

Mei bounced with excitement! She had traveled far to visit her GongGong. His mountain village was nestled deep in the green, misty hills.

Mei loved pandas, and these mountains felt like a giant panda's home. She hugged her soft panda, Bao Bao, imagining wild friends nearby.

GongGong's house smelled of sweet herbs and warm wood. He was a kind herbalist, helping villagers with natural remedies from the forest.

One morning, GongGong carefully helped an old woman with a sore arm. He used special leaves and whispered gentle words.

Mei watched how GongGong respected every plant. He taught her that nature provided everything, if you listened closely.

The village fields were a patchwork of green, stretching up the gentle slopes. Healthy crops grew tall, promising a bountiful harvest for everyone.

Then, a great storm roared down from the mountains. Rain poured for days and nights, making the river swell and rush.

The river overflowed! Muddy water surged into the fields, washing away the crops. Mei watched from GongGong's window, her heart sinking.

When the sun returned, the fields were ruined. Villagers stood among the mud, their shoulders slumped. Their food was gone.

Mei felt a knot in her tummy. She saw the sadness in everyone's eyes. What would the villagers eat now?

GongGong stroked his beard. "We will replant," he said softly. "But this time, we will listen to the mountain's whisper."

They carefully gathered special seeds. GongGong showed Mei how to choose the strongest ones, ready for a new beginning.

Early next morning, Mei and GongGong began. They dug small holes, gently placing each tiny seed into the soft earth.
