Meet Maya! Her bright red hair bounced as she tinkered. She loved building amazing things in her cozy workshop.
Today, her biggest dream was to explore the ocean's secrets. She was building a special submarine, just for her!
Her submarine was almost ready. It had strong glass windows and a clever motor. Maya called it 'The Ocean Explorer.'
But Maya had a secret worry. The deep, dark parts of the ocean felt scary. What if it was too dark?
One sunny morning, Maya launched her submarine! Splash! She waved goodbye to the shore and dove into the clear blue water.
Soon, she reached the coral reef. Wow! Bright fish darted among colorful coral castles. It was a rainbow world!
Suddenly, a friendly face appeared! A sleek, silver dolphin with sparkling eyes swam right up to her window.
'Hello!' Maya signed, tapping the glass. The dolphin chattered happily, doing a playful flip in the water.
The dolphin, Finley, nudged the submarine gently. He seemed to invite her to follow him, deeper into the ocean.
Maya hesitated. Deeper? Where it was dark? Her heart gave a little flutter of worry.
Finley seemed to understand. He swam closer, his eyes kind. He gave a soft click, as if to say, 'Come on!'
Taking a deep breath, Maya pressed a button. 'Okay, Finley!' The Ocean Explorer slowly followed the dolphin into the darker blue.
It grew darker and darker. Maya clutched her controls. Her fear started to creep back, like a shadowy wave.
Then, a tiny sparkle! A glowing jellyfish pulsed softly, like a little underwater lantern.
