📖 Read the Story

Maggie loved the Whispering Woods. Her bright blue eyes always searched for wonders. Today, she carried her little woven basket, ready for adventure.

Sunlight dappled through tall, ancient trees. Mossy trunks stood like sleepy giants. Maggie tiptoed past, listening to the forest's soft hum.

Suddenly, a tiny, faint whimper drifted on the breeze. It sounded like a little bell, sad and faraway. Maggie paused, her head tilted.

"Hello?" she whispered softly. She followed the sound, her boots crunching gently on fallen leaves. Her heart beat a little faster.

Deep in a quiet nook, she saw it! A shimmering, sticky rainbow spiderweb, sparkling like a tiny stained-glass window between two branches.

And caught right in its colorful threads was something even tinier. Maggie gasped. It was a fairy! A real, live sparkle-wing fairy!

The fairy, no bigger than Maggie's thumb, struggled. Its iridescent wings, like a dragonfly's but rainbow-hued, were hopelessly stuck.

"Oh, you poor thing," Maggie murmured, her voice full of concern. She knelt down, moving as slowly and gently as a cloud.

The fairy’s emerald eyes were wide with fear. Its little leaf tunic was crumpled. Maggie carefully tried to pull a wing, but it was too sticky.

Maggie sat back on her heels. She couldn't just yank it! That would hurt the tiny creature. She needed a clever idea.

Then, she remembered Nana’s stories! Nana said water could loosen almost anything. Could it work on a sticky rainbow web?

Maggie looked around. A large, green leaf nearby held a perfect, glistening dewdrop. Just what she needed!

Very carefully, she dipped her fingertip into the dewdrop. A tiny, clear bead of water sat on her skin, cool and round.

She reached out, her hand steady. Gently, she dabbed the water onto the sticky threads around the fairy's delicate wings.
