📖 Read the Story

Lola’s tummy felt like a stormy sea. Her usually bright eyes were heavy, and her bouncy pigtails seemed to droop. She curled up in her small, crammed bathroom, a shiver running through her. Something was very, very wrong.

Then, with a sudden lurch, everything came out. She coughed and gagged, feeling dizzy and weak. The room spun around her like a wild carousel. Lola wished she could just disappear.

Her parents rushed in, their faces filled with worry. "Oh, my poor little star," whispered her mom. Dad quickly called for help, his voice calm but firm. Lola just wanted the awful feeling to stop.

Soon, a distant siren grew louder, then stopped right outside their house. A big, bright ambulance had arrived! Lola heard gentle voices and quick footsteps. Help was finally here.

Two kind paramedics, Nurse Anya and Driver Ben, carefully lifted Lola onto a soft stretcher. She felt like a special package. As they carried her out, Lola saw her house from a new, strange angle.

Inside the ambulance, it was like a secret spaceship! Soft lights glowed, and buttons blinked. Nurse Anya, with her kind eyes and butterfly pin, smiled. "Hello, Lola," she whispered. "We'll take good care of you."

A tiny tube was placed in her arm, and clear liquid began to drip. "These are special medicines," Nurse Anya explained, "to help your tummy feel better." Lola watched, mesmerized by the slow, steady drops.

The ambulance swayed gently, a magical ride through the night. Lola felt a little less queasy. She watched the blurry city lights dance outside the window, wondering where they were going. It was an adventure!

Suddenly, a strange, familiar smell wafted past. Lola’s nose twitched. A memory flashed in her mind, a taste she couldn't quite place. Oh no. That familiar, awful feeling was bubbling up again.

"Oh dear," Nurse Anya said softly, as Lola threw up once more. Driver Ben pulled over smoothly. They cleaned everything quickly, reassuring Lola it was perfectly fine. She felt a bit embarrassed.

Finally, the ambulance doors swung open. Bright lights filled the space. They had arrived at the hospital! Lola was wheeled inside, feeling a mixture of relief and curiosity. What would happen next?

Lola was settled into a soft, clean bed in a quiet room. She felt so tired, but also safe. The worst was over, for now. She closed her eyes, trying to remember what had made her so sick.

Soon, Dr. Bloom, a kind doctor with sparkly glasses, came to visit. "Hello, Lola," she said. "Can you tell me what you ate today? Anything unusual?" Lola thought hard, a tiny clue sparking.

Lola remembered a funny, crumbly cookie she'd found. It tasted a bit off, but she was so hungry! Nurse Clara, with her bright pink scrubs, adjusted Lola's drip. The cookie… that was it!
