Lily and Gus loved to play. Their garden was the best place ever!

One sunny morning, Lily had a big question. "Gus," she asked, "what is 'grumpy'?"

Gus scratched his head. "Hmm," he mumbled. Lily declared, "Let's ask the garden! Gardens know everything!"

They tiptoed to a wilting daisy. Its petals looked sad. "Are you grumpy, little flower?" Lily whispered.

The daisy just drooped lower. Gus pointed. "Maybe it's thirsty, not grumpy." He looked very smart.

"Aha!" Lily cried. "Grumpy means very, very thirsty!" She quickly found her watering can.

They gave the daisy a long drink. It perked right up! "See? Less grumpy!" Lily beamed.

Next, they found a big, thorny rose bush. "This bush looks grumpy!" Lily said, pointing at its sharp bits.

Gus carefully touched a tiny thorn. "Ouch!" he yelped. "Maybe grumpy means 'poky'?"

Lily tried to give the bush a hug, but jumped back! "Definitely poky-grumpy!" she giggled.
