Every night, as the stars began to twinkle, Lily would snuggle deep under her covers. "Mummy," she'd whisper, her voice soft and hopeful, "one more day night, please? Can you sleep with me?"

Mom loved Lily more than all the stars in the sky. But for many, many nights, this had been their bedtime dance. Mom felt her eyelids droop, wishing for her own quiet bed.

The very next evening, after stories and goodnight kisses, Lily asked again, "One more sleep, Mummy, just one more night?" Mom took a deep, quiet breath.

Mom gently shook her head. "No, sweet pea," she said, her voice soft but clear. Lily’s eyes widened, surprised by the answer she hadn't heard before.

"But why?" Lily whispered, her bottom lip starting to tremble. "I don't like being all alone in the dark. The shadows look like dancing monsters!"

Mom sat down fully on the bed, taking Lily's small hand in hers. "Because you are a big, brave girl, Lily. And Mummy needs her own sleep too, so she can be strong."

"Being strong means having lots of energy for our adventures tomorrow," Mom explained. "For building the tallest block towers and for chasing the fastest butterflies!"

Lily still looked worried, her gaze darting towards the shadowy corner of her room. A teddy bear sits beside her, looking equally small.

Mom smiled, a clever sparkle in her eyes. "Then we will make a special plan, a 'Brave Sleep Routine'!" Lily's ears perked up, curiosity replacing her fear.

First, they chose a brand new, super cozy blanket, soft as a fluffy cloud. "This will be your comfort cloud," Mom declared, wrapping it around Lily.

Next, they found a friendly nightlight, shaped like a sleepy, smiling moon. "It will keep the biggest, wobbliest shadows away," Mom promised.

Then, they gave Lily's favourite teddy bear, Barnaby, a very important job. "Barnaby is now your super-duper brave guard bear!" Mom announced.

They practiced deep, calm "sleepy breaths" together. "Breathe in calm, breathe out wiggles," Mom coached, her voice a soothing rhythm.

Mom reading from a beautifully illustrated book about a little star, Lily snuggled under her comfort cloud, listening intently.
