Lily and Kaiya's Starry Adventure

My heart fluttered with *anticipation*! Saturday was camping day. I couldn't wait to see my friend, Kaiya, in New Plymouth.

I carefully packed my favourite sleeping bag, my trusty torch, and a book of starry night stories. Adventure awaited!

My tummy did flip-flops as we drove. Soon, we would see the *magnificent* Mount Taranaki, standing tall and proud.

The car hummed along, past green fields and *bustling* towns. Every mile brought me closer to Kaiya and our special trip.

Finally, we arrived! The air smelled fresh, like salty sea and damp earth. And there she was, Kaiya, with a huge smile!

Kaiya had long, braided hair with colourful beads. Her eyes sparkled. "Lily! I'm so glad you're here!" she cheered.

Our campsite was perfect! Green grass, tall trees, and the gentle sound of waves nearby. Time to set up our cozy tent.

"This pole goes here," Kaiya explained, holding a long, flexible stick. It looked a bit tricky, but we worked together.

We pushed and pulled, giggling when the tent wobbled. Slowly, our little canvas home began to take shape.

Inside, it was snug and warm. We unrolled our sleeping bags, making our beds for the night. Our adventure truly began!

"Let's explore!" Kaiya whispered. We tiptoed through the trees, searching for interesting leaves and smooth, round stones.

Suddenly, a tiny, colourful feather floated down. "Look!" I gasped. It was so soft and beautiful, a real treasure.

Back at camp, we gathered firewood. But where were the marshmallows? We searched every bag, feeling a little worried.
