Layla loved sunny days. Her hair was like moonbeams, and her eyes sparkled like morning dew. She loved the world outside.

But the bright sun made her skin feel tingly. She always wore a big hat and long sleeves to keep herself safe.

From her porch, Layla watched her friends, Leo and Maya, laughing at the sunny playground. Their happy shouts carried on the breeze.

Oh, how she wished to join them! But the playground had no shady spots, not one cool place to rest.

A little sigh escaped her lips. The sun felt too strong for her to play safely today. She felt a bit lonely.

Leo and Maya spotted Layla. "Why aren't you playing?" Leo called, running closer to the edge of the playground.

Layla pointed to the bright sky. "The sun is too strong for me," she whispered sadly. "It makes my skin feel hot."

Leo frowned, and Maya looked thoughtful. They saw the sunny swings, the hot slide, and understood Layla's problem.

Suddenly, Maya clapped her hands. "What if we made a shady spot, just for you, Layla?" she exclaimed.

Leo's eyes lit up. "Like a giant, super umbrella?" Layla giggled, shaking her head, a smile finally on her face.

“A tree!” Layla exclaimed, her eyes sparkling. “A big, leafy tree would be perfect for everyone to enjoy!”

The friends decided. They would ask for help! "Mr. Henderson knows all about trees," said Leo, tapping his chin.

They found Mr. Henderson watering his prize-winning tomatoes in the community garden. The air smelled of earth and flowers.

They told him about Layla, the sunny playground, and their wish for a shady tree. Mr. Henderson listened carefully.
