Kiko, a nimble girl with bright, braided hair, loved building. She preferred strong river stones to soft flower petals.
Other children in Willow Creek Village wove delicate flower crowns. Kiko, however, stacked her stones, making them stand tall.
The village had one big, wooden bridge. It stretched across Willow Creek, leading to the sweet, juicy berry fields.
One evening, dark, rumbling clouds filled the sky. A fierce, wild storm roared through the quiet village.
When the morning sun peeked out, a sad sight greeted everyone. The big, strong bridge was gone!
Adults gathered, their faces creased with worry. "Oh dear," sighed Farmer Ben. "How will we reach the berries?"
Kiko stood quietly, observing the broken planks. She knew bridges needed strong, steady foundations.
"I can help build a new one!" Kiko piped up, her voice small but clear. The adults kindly smiled. "Not now, little one."
Kiko didn't give up. She knew her stones were strong. A clever idea sparked in her mind!
She found her friends, Leo, Mina, and Pip. "We can build a temporary bridge!" Kiko declared.
"We need flat, sturdy stones," Kiko instructed. "And long, fallen branches from the woods."
Leo, strong and brave, carefully rolled a big, flat rock into place. "Like this, Kiko?" he asked.
Mina, with her keen eyes, found smooth, interlocking pebbles. "These will hold steady," she said, placing them perfectly.
Pip, small but quick, carried armfuls of smaller stones. He giggled with effort, adding them to the pile.
