Kiki and the Snowy Secret

High in the snowy mountains lived Kiki, a little snow monkey. She wore a bright red ribbon in her soft, brown fur.

Her home was a cozy, warm onsen. The water was wonderfully toasty, even when winter winds blew cold.

Outside the onsen, her friends chattered and laughed. They tumbled and played in the fluffy, white snow.

Kiki watched them with longing eyes. Oh, how she wished she could join their joyful, snowy games!

But the snow looked so cold, so very cold! Kiki shivered just thinking about stepping out of the warm water.

Old Man Hiroki, with his kind, crinkly eyes, saw Kiki’s sad face. He was the wisest monkey in the troop.

"Little Kiki," he rumbled softly, "why don't you join your friends in their fun?"

Kiki pointed a tiny finger at the snow. "It's too cold, Hiroki-san! I'm scared of the freezing snow."

Hiroki-san smiled warmly. "Come, little one. Let me show you a secret about the wonderful snow."

Kiki took a deep breath. Slowly, she dipped a tiny paw out of the warm water, just for a moment.

Hiroki-san scooped up a small handful of snow. He pressed it gently between his wise, old paws.

"See? It's not so bad," he whispered. "We can make tiny, friendly snowballs together."

Kiki watched him carefully. Then, she tried too! Her little paws scooped up the soft, white powder.
