Kai and the Leaf Mystery

Kai, a little koala with soft gray fur, loved to nap. His dreams were always sweet and leafy.

He stretched his sleepy paws, ready for a yummy breakfast. His favorite eucalyptus tree stood tall and proud.

But wait! Where were all the delicious, green leaves? His special tree was completely bare!

Kai’s big koala eyes grew wide with surprise. His tummy rumbled. What would he eat now?

He scampered down the trunk, feeling very worried. He needed help! He knew just who to ask.

Willow the wombat was digging nearby, her strong paws busy. She had clever eyes and a curious pink nose.

“Willow, my leaves are gone!” cried Kai, his voice small. Willow listened carefully, her brow furrowed.

“Hmm, a mystery!” Willow declared brightly. “Let’s look for clues, Kai. We’ll be leaf-detectives!”

They found tiny, nibbled leaf bits on the ground. Then, small, wiggly tracks led into the green bush.

The tracks led to a laughing Kookaburra. “I saw tiny green munchers pass by,” he chuckled.

Kai and Willow followed the wiggly trail further. It wound past ferns and over smooth, grey rocks.

They met a sleepy Possum, hanging upside down. “The munchers went this way!” she whispered softly.

Finally, they peeked into a cozy, hollow log. Inside, hundreds of green caterpillars munched happily!
