Jacob loved dinosaurs more than anything. His room was a jungle of plastic giants and roaring posters. He knew all their names, from Apatosaurus to Zuniceratops. He spent hours reading his big, worn dinosaur book.
βOh, to meet a real one,β he often wished, tracing the scales of a gentle Brontosaurus in his book. He imagined their giant footsteps shaking the ground, their long necks reaching for the highest leaves.
One sunny afternoon, a strange, shimmering leaf drifted through his open window. It wasn't like any leaf he'd ever seen. It glowed with a soft, iridescent green light, dancing in the air.
Jacob carefully reached out and caught it. The leaf felt warm in his hand and hummed with a tiny, gentle vibration. As he held it, his cozy room began to ripple and blur around the edges.
The shimmering grew brighter and swirled faster, until suddenly, Jacob blinked. He wasn't in his room anymore! The air felt different, warmer, and smelled of damp earth and sweet flowers.
He stood in a magnificent, prehistoric jungle! Towering ferns brushed his shoulders, and enormous, ancient trees reached for the sky. Bright, exotic flowers bloomed everywhere, in colors heβd never imagined.
Then, a long, graceful neck emerged from behind a curtain of giant leaves. Its head, as big as a small car, turned slowly. Two kind, gentle eyes blinked down at him.
It was a Brontosaurus! Just like the one in his book. It munched peacefully on the tender leaves, its giant body a mountain of scales and muscle. Jacob knew it was a plant-eater.
Jacob wasn't scared at all. A quiet thrill filled his heart. He raised a small hand and whispered, "Hello, Brontosaurus." The giant blinked slowly, as if understanding.
He walked deeper into the jungle, following a sparkling stream that gurgled over smooth, colorful stones. Above him, graceful Pterodactyls soared and dipped in the warm, blue sky.
Near the stream, he saw something small and wobbly. A baby Triceratops! Its little horns were just starting to grow, and it tried to drink, but something seemed wrong.
The baby Triceratops was stuck! Its tiny foot was wedged tightly under a mossy, fallen log. It whimpered softly, trying to pull free, but it couldn't.
Jacob remembered a picture in his book, showing how to gently help small creatures. He knew he had to be very careful and kind. He took a deep breath.
He braced himself and pushed the heavy log with all his might. It was much heavier than it looked, but Jacob knew the baby needed his help. He grunted with effort.
