Jack and the Sky-High Surprise

Little Jack lived in a tiny cottage with his dear mother. Their home was cozy, but their cupboard was often bare. They had only one cow, Milky-White, their most precious possession.

"We must sell Milky-White, my son," sighed Mother, her voice soft with sadness. "There is no other way." Jack's heart felt heavy, but he knew she was right.

Jack led Milky-White towards the bustling town market. On the way, he met a strange old man. His long white beard shimmered, and his eyes twinkled like stars.

"I'll give you these five magic beans for your cow," the old man offered with a kind smile. Jack, mesmerized by their glow, agreed, imagining their worries melting away.

Jack rushed home, eager to show his mother. "Magic beans?" cried Mother, her face falling. "Oh, Jack! We needed money for food, not silly beans!" She was very disappointed.

In her frustration, Mother tossed the beans out the window into the garden. Jack went to bed with an empty stomach and a heavy heart, wondering if he’d made a terrible mistake.

The next morning, a wondrous sight greeted Jack! A colossal beanstalk, thick as a tree, had grown overnight. It stretched higher than the tallest trees, disappearing into the clouds.

Jack’s heart pounded with excitement and a little fear. He knew he had to climb it. Perhaps his magic beans weren't so silly after all! He felt a pull to explore.

Up, up, up he climbed, past giant leaves and shimmering dew drops. The air grew cooler, and the world below shrank to a tiny dot. He felt like a bird.

Finally, he reached the top! He stepped onto a strange land, soft and spongy like a mossy carpet. Above, giant flowers bloomed in impossible colors under a brilliant blue sky.

In the distance, he saw an enormous castle, dark and imposing. It looked like it belonged to a giant! Jack felt a shiver, but his curiosity urged him forward.

He crept inside the castle. Everything was enormous! A huge table, giant chairs, and a roaring fire in a cavernous fireplace. Suddenly, he heard a booming voice.

"Fee-fi-fo-fum!" boomed the Giant. Jack quickly hid. The Giant sat down, and beside him, a magnificent hen with feathers of pure gold clucked softly.
