📖 Read the Story

Hala loved her new neighborhood park. The big oak tree whispered secrets, and the swings soared high. But sometimes, whispers weren't friendly at all.

Leo, Mia, and Sam often played nearby. When they saw Hala, their games stopped. "Look at her funny hat!" Leo would call out, and the others would giggle.

Hala’s heart felt a little squashed. Her headscarf wasn’t funny. It was special. It made her feel like herself, warm and safe, like a secret hug.

One afternoon, as Hala walked away from the unkind whispers, she saw something unusual. Under the ancient oak’s gnarled roots, a tiny wooden bird lay half-hidden in the grass.

It was smooth and warm from the sun, carved with tiny feathers. On its base, a tiny crescent moon was carved. What could it mean? A little shiver of curiosity ran through Hala.

The bird felt like a secret. Was it just lost, or was it a clue? Hala decided to find out. Her sadness began to fade, replaced by a new spark, a tiny flame of adventure.

The next day, Hala visited the quiet library. "Do you have books about symbols?" she asked Mrs. Gable, the kind librarian. Mrs. Gable, with a warm smile, pointed to a tall, dusty shelf.

Flipping through dusty pages, Hala spotted it! A crescent moon, just like on the bird. The book said it meant "a hidden path" or "a secret journey."

A hidden path! Hala’s eyes lit up. She knew just the place – the old community garden. Maybe the teasing kids, Leo, Mia, and Sam, were watching her now, but she didn't care.

Behind a thorny rose bush, a tiny path appeared. It led to a mossy stone, half-covered by ivy. Carved into the stone was a bright, smiling sun. Another clue!

A sun! The bird meant 'hidden path,' and the sun meant... what? 'Daylight'? 'Warmth'? Hala closed her eyes, thinking hard. What was always bright and warm, like the sun?

Suddenly, she remembered the big oak tree, where she found the bird. Its leaves always caught the morning sun, making patterns on the grass. The sun always shone there!

She raced back to the park, the wooden bird clutched tight. Leo, Mia, and Sam followed, their whispers gone. They were curious now, watching Hala intently, wondering what she was doing.

On the sunniest side of the giant oak, Hala found it. A small, almost invisible knot hole, covered by a piece of loose bark. Her heart beat fast, thump-thump, thump-thump.
