In a harsh Viking land, a compassionate young girl named Freya finds and heals an injured baby puffin, discovering the true meaning of love and letting go as she prepares it for its return to the wild.

📖 Read the Story

Freya lived in a snowy village, nestled by the wild, churning sea. Her bright red braids bounced as she explored.

One day, a fierce storm howled. Waves crashed like thunder, making the ground tremble. Freya felt a shiver of fear.

Still, something pulled her to the beach. She bravely stepped out, battling the strong wind that tugged at her cloak.

Then, she saw it! A tiny, fluffy creature, huddled and still, near a pile of dark seaweed.

It was a baby puffin, its small wing bent at an odd angle. Its dark eyes blinked slowly, full of pain.

Freya’s heart ached. The wild waves roared, but a stronger feeling bloomed inside her: a need to help.

Carefully, she scooped the fragile bird into her warm, fur-lined hood. It felt so light, so small.

Back in her cozy longhouse, Freya made a soft nest by the fire. She whispered comforting words to the little puffin.

She brought it tiny fish, carefully mashed. The puffin took a small bite, then another. A glimmer of hope sparked.

Days turned into a week. Freya tenderly cared for her new friend, whom she named "Skye" for the stormy sky.

Skye’s wing healed, and soon it waddled around, chasing Freya’s toes with playful chirps.

Freya cherished every moment. But she knew Skye, a bird of the sea, longed for the open air.

The thought of saying goodbye made her heart heavy. Yet, she understood Skye needed to be free.

On a calm, sunny morning, Freya carried Skye back to the beach. The waves were gentle now, whispering secrets.
