Esme loved visiting Grandfather Leo’s sunny farm. It was her favorite place in the whole wide world.

Colorful crops stretched far, and happy animals roamed free. The air smelled sweet and fresh.

Her bright, curious eyes always found something new. A buzzing bee, a ladybug, or a tiny green sprout.

Grandfather Leo’s favorite helper was Old Bessie, the big red tractor. She was old but strong.

Old Bessie helped plant seeds and carry fresh hay. She made farm work much easier.

One sunny morning, Old Bessie sputtered and stopped. Her engine made a sad, coughing sound.

Grandfather Leo tried to start her, but nothing worked. “Oh dear,” he sighed softly.

Esme noticed a big, heavy part had fallen loose. It looked important, and very heavy.

“It’s too heavy to lift,” Grandfather Leo grunted. “Too heavy for just our hands.”

Grandfather Leo smiled. “We need a lever, my clever girl! A simple machine!”

He found a long, strong wooden plank. Esme found a sturdy, round rock.

They placed the rock under the plank, near the heavy part. “This is our fulcrum,” he explained.

“Now, push down hard!” Grandfather Leo encouraged. Esme pushed with all her might.

Slowly, the heavy part lifted! Up, up, up, just like magic!
