Cheeky's Little Secret

The sun shone brightly on a perfect play day. Jewel, with her sparkling eyes and beaded braids, and Precious, with her soft curls and kind smile, were ready for adventure!

Their best friend, Cheeky, a fluffy white dog, bounced with excitement. He loved to chase butterflies and roll in the soft grass, always ready for fun.

Today, Cheeky found a new game. His nose twitched, sniffing intently at a patch of colorful marigolds near the old oak tree. What interesting smells were hiding there?

With a happy bark, Cheeky began to dig! Dirt flew as his little paws worked quickly. He loved to explore, even if it made a bit of a mess.

"Cheeky, no!" cried Jewel, rushing over. "You'll mess up Grandma's beautiful flowers!" Precious nodded, her eyes wide with concern for the colorful blooms.

But Cheeky wasn't interested in the bright, healthy blooms. He had dug up something else, something small and brown, hidden beneath a big green leaf.

"Look, Jewel," Precious whispered, pointing with a tiny finger. "It's not a flower, it's just a little plant. And it looks so sad."

Jewel carefully brushed away some dirt. The plant was tiny, its stem thin and bent. It was tucked away in a shady corner, far from the warm sunshine.

"It's all dry," Jewel observed, touching the soil. "And it's hiding in the shade. Plants need sunshine and water to grow big and strong, remember?"

Precious gently stroked a droopy leaf. "Maybe Cheeky found it because it needed help. Can we make it happy again, Jewel?"

Jewel smiled. "We can certainly try! First, let's give it some water. Plants get thirsty just like we do on a hot day."

Precious remembered the small green watering can by the garden shed. "I'll get the water!" she exclaimed, skipping off with a purpose.

While Precious fetched the water, Jewel carefully loosened the soil around the little plant. "Good soil helps roots drink," she explained to Cheeky, who watched closely.
