Lily snuggled her best friend, Barnaby the bear. He felt soft and warm.
But tonight, Barnaby felt a little quiet. His special bedtime magic felt dim.
Lily looked at his tummy. Triangle, Square, Circle. Oh! One was gone!
"Oh no!" she whispered. "Barnaby's shiny X-shape is missing!"
Where could it be? She peered deep into the big, colorful toy box.
A fluffy, cream-colored puppy plushie, Pip, peeks his head out from behind a pile of blocks in the toy box. His floppy ears are perked, and he looks curious.
"My X-shape!" Lily explained. Pip remembered a tiny, shiny 'X' rolling.
Pip wagged his tail. "It rolled under the bed, I think!"
Under the bed was dark and dusty. A little bit spooky!
