Barnaby the bear cub loved to zoom! He always wanted to be first.
His best friend, Millie the mouse, was quick, but not quite as fast.
Today they raced through dappled woods, sunlight dancing on the path.
“Ready, set, GO!” Barnaby roared, dashing ahead with big, bouncy steps.
Millie scurried, her little legs working hard, but Barnaby was already far away.
Barnaby stopped, huffing. “Millie, hurry up! You’re so slow!” he grumbled.
Millie’s tiny ears drooped. She felt a little sad, watching Barnaby’s impatient frown.
Suddenly, wise Grandpa Grizzly lumbered near, his spectacles perched on his nose.
Grandpa had kind, crinkly eyes and a warm, rumbling laugh. His fur was silver-grey.
“Why the long faces, little ones?” he chuckled. “How about ‘Slow and Steady Seekers’ instead?”
“We look for tiny treasures,” Grandpa explained. “The most interesting little things along our path.”
Barnaby tilted his head. “But… who wins?” he asked, still thinking of races.
Millie’s whiskers twitched with interest. “Tiny treasures?” she squeaked, her sadness fading.
Grandpa smiled. “Let’s begin!” They walked slowly, eyes scanning the forest floor.
