📖 Read the Story

Barnaby Bear loved to bake. His cozy cottage at Number 67 Acorn Lane always smelled of warm bread and sweet treats. He hummed happy tunes while he mixed and kneaded.

Barnaby’s home was the warmest spot in the whole forest. His neighbors knew that a visit often meant a delicious surprise, fresh from his big, old oven.

Soon, it would be the annual Forest Festival! Barnaby loved seeing all his friends, sharing stories, and, of course, tasting all the wonderful food.

"This year," Barnaby announced to his reflection in a shiny mixing bowl, "I will bake 67 delicious berry pies for the festival!" He clapped his paws with delight.

Barnaby started right away. He measured flour, poured sugar, and carefully washed the plump, juicy berries. He imagined everyone enjoying his sweet pies.

But as he looked at the enormous pile of berries and the stack of 67 empty pie tins, Barnaby’s smile began to droop. That was a *lot* of pies!

His paws felt heavy, and his big bear brain started to ache. "Oh dear," he mumbled, "67 pies might be too many for just one bear to bake!"

Barnaby sighed. He loved baking, but this felt like a mountain of work. Then, a wonderful idea sparked in his mind! He thought of his kind neighbors.

First, Barnaby visited Pip Squirrel. Pip lived in a cozy tree hollow, always busy gathering nuts. "Hello, Pip!" Barnaby greeted warmly.

"I need help gathering berries for 67 pies," Barnaby explained. "I'd love to help!" chirped Pip, her bushy tail twitching. She was incredibly quick!

Next, Barnaby hopped over to Rosie Rabbit’s burrow. Rosie was known for her gentle paws and delicate touch. "Rosie, could you help with pie crusts?"

Rosie’s long ears twitched. "Oh, I love kneading dough!" she exclaimed. Soon, Rosie was carefully rolling out perfect, flaky pie crusts.

Finally, Barnaby visited Oliver Owl. Oliver, with his big, intelligent eyes and spectacles, was very precise. "Oliver, could you help with the fillings?"

"Indeed, Barnaby," hooted Oliver. "Precise measurements make the best fillings." Oliver carefully stirred the sweet berry mixture, making sure it was just right.
