Barnaby Button stretched, a wide grin spreading across his face. "This," he declared to his reflection, "is the start of my perfectly planned, wonderfully quiet, utterly lovely weekend!"
His meticulous list included: "1. Quiet reading (Chapter 3 of 'The Great Snail Race'). 2. Magnificent pillow fort construction. 3. Tiny sandwich picnic." He hummed with anticipation.
Just as Barnaby carefully selected his quietest reading chair, a *CRASH-BANG-BOOM* shook the house. The front door burst open!
"SURPRISE!" boomed Aunt Mildred, a whirlwind of purple hair and clashing patterns. "I'm here for a SUPER-DUPER, EXTRA-SPECIAL, FUN-TASTIC weekend!"
Mildred's first "fun" activity was a "Pancake-Flipping Fandango." Pancakes soared through the air like bewildered frisbees. Barnaby tried to read, ducking a maple syrup drizzle.
"More butter! More sprinkles!" Mildred cheered, launching another pancake. Reginald squeaked, narrowly avoiding a sticky landing. This was *not* on Barnaby's quiet list.
Next, Mildred declared it "Musical Mayhem Time!" She produced a tuba and a drum kit from her enormous, sparkly bag. "Let's make some joyful noise!"
Barnaby's carefully chosen fort pillows tumbled with each discordant *BLAAAT!* and *CRASH!* Reginald had retreated under a sofa cushion, shivering slightly.
"Aunt Mildred," Barnaby began, holding up his crumpled list. "My 'lovely weekend' plan was more⦠tranquil. Like, quiet reading and a magnificent pillow fort."
"Tranquil?" Mildred exclaimed, misunderstanding completely. "Oh, you mean *extra* exciting! I know! A 'Wild Animal Wiggle Parade'!" She gestured wildly towards a pile of stuffed toys.
The "parade" was pure pandemonium. Stuffed animals tumbled, Mildred tripped over a toy lion, and Barnaby's list was now covered in glitter and a stray feather.
Barnaby sighed, a tiny cloud of disappointment escaping his lips. His perfectly planned, wonderfully quiet, utterly lovely weekend was rapidly becoming a very loud, very glittery mess.
He quietly slipped away, finding a small, sunlit corner. Reginald joined him, offering a sympathetic pat with a tiny paw. "It's not quite my 'lovely weekend' plan," Barnaby whispered.
Mildred, mid-roar with a stuffed tiger, suddenly paused. She looked at the quiet corner, then at Barnaby's sad face, then at his crumpled, glittery list.
