Aria was not like the other axolotls in the Glimmering Pond. While her friends were soft pinks and gentle grays, Aria shimmered with every color imaginable. Her frilly gills pulsed sapphire blue, emerald green, sunny yellow, and ruby red. Her skin swirled with iridescent purples and oranges, leaving a faint, glittery trail wherever she swam. She was a living rainbow, and it worried her.

"Oh, if only I could be a nice, sensible beige," Aria sighed, gazing at her reflection in a lily pad. Her reflection just winked back, a kaleidoscope of colors. "I stick out like a particularly sparkly thumb! Everyone stares. I just want to blend in, Coco."

Coco the capybara, Aria's best friend, munched happily on a crunchy reed. His shaggy brown fur was perpetually damp, and a slightly squashed daisy was tucked behind his ear. "Blend in?" he mumbled, crumbs falling from his mouth. "But then how would I find you for our snack-and-splash dates? You're like a beacon of deliciousness... I mean, *brightness*!"

Aria giggled, despite herself. Coco always made her feel a little better, even when he completely missed the point. "It's not about snack dates, Coco! I just want to be... normal. I need to get rid of these colors. I need to be *fixed*!" She puffed out her rainbow gills dramatically.

Coco blinked slowly. "Fixed? Like a leaky bucket? Or a wobbly lily pad?" He tilted his head, a thoughtful expression on his face. "Hmm. My cousin Bartholomew once tried to fix his fur with mud. Said it made him extra fluffy. Maybe we could try that?"

Aria’s eyes widened. "Mud? Or perhaps… a super-duper scrub-a-dub? If I just wash hard enough, maybe the colors will come right off!" An adventurous spark ignited in her rainbow eyes. "Yes! A grand quest to un-rainbow Aria! Will you help me, Coco?"

Coco, ever loyal, nodded vigorously, nearly dislodging his daisy. "Of course, Aria! We'll find the best un-coloring method in the whole pond! First, the scrub-a-dub! I saw some particularly bubbly algae near the Whispering Reeds. Perfect for suds!"

They gathered the bubbly algae, which smelled faintly of pond water and sunshine. Coco held Aria gently as she tried to scrub her skin with a tiny, soft moss pad. "Rub-a-dub-dub, colors be gone!" she chanted, scrubbing with all her might.

Soon, the pond water around them was filled with frothy bubbles. Coco, trying to help, accidentally got a big blob of suds right on his nose. He sneezed, sending bubbles everywhere. Aria, however, just looked even shinier, her colors sparkling through the foam. "Oh dear," she sighed. "Just... extra clean."

"Right," Coco declared, wiping suds from his whiskers. "Plan B: The Muddy Makeover! Bartholomew swore by it. He said mud is like a cozy blanket for colors. It tucks them right in, so they don't pop out." He pointed a wet paw towards the squishy bank.

They squelched into the Muddy Mirth-Mire, a bog known for its bouncy, giggling mud and resident croaking frogs. Aria hesitantly allowed Coco to slather her in thick, brown goo. "This feels... squishy," she commented, a little mud sliding into her eye.

Coco, meanwhile, was having a grand time. He rolled in the mud, chuckling as it squished between his toes. He even tried to make a mud hat for Aria. When she finally emerged, spluttering and shaking off the mud, her rainbow colors seemed to glow even brighter against the brown. "It just made me look like a sparkly, muddy cupcake!" she wailed.

Aria slumped onto a lily pad. "This is hopeless! My colors are too stubborn." Then, she remembered an old legend. "Wait! I heard stories about the Shimmering Waterfall, far beyond the Giggle-Stone River. They say it can change anything! Perhaps it can un-rainbow me!"

Coco’s eyes lit up. "A waterfall? With shimmer? Ooh, I bet it has extra crunchy reeds nearby! Excellent! A journey! I'll pack the snacks!" He immediately began foraging for his favorite water plants, humming a happy, off-key tune.

Their journey began. They navigated the Whispering Reeds, where the wind rustled through the tall stalks, making them sound like they were telling secrets. "Listen, Aria!" Coco whispered, his ears twitching. "I think they're telling jokes! I heard one about a grumpy gnat!" Aria just shivered, finding the sounds a bit spooky.

Next, they reached the Giggle-Stone River. It was shallow, filled with smooth, round stones that made funny "plink-plonk" sounds when stepped on. Coco, delighted, tried to play a tune, hopping from stone to stone with clumsy grace.

"Plink-plonk-PLOP!" Coco missed a step, tumbling into the water with a huge splash. Aria, swimming nearby, was drenched. Her rainbow colors seemed to burst even more vividly as the water cascaded off her. Coco just giggled, "Oops! Extra rinse cycle!"
