Little Anya lived in a cozy, round yurt. Her bright purple glasses often slipped down her nose.
Outside, tall, snowy Altai Mountains touched the sky. The air was crisp and cold.
Anya was a shy girl. She loved to watch the world quietly from her window.
One morning, she saw a family of marmots! Mama, Papa, and a tiny baby.
They tumbled and chased each other, their brown fur fluffy against the white snow.
But dark clouds gathered. Baba Lena, Anya's grandmother, said, "A big blizzard is coming."
The blizzard howled! Wind whipped the snow. The yurt felt extra warm inside.
Anya looked out. The marmots were huddled together, shivering under a snowy bush.
Her heart felt a little squeeze. They looked so small and cold in the wild snow.
Anya remembered Baba Lena's beautiful, warm woven blankets, piled high in a corner.
She quietly walked to Baba Lena's big, wooden loom, usually so quiet and grand.
"Baba Lena," Anya whispered, her voice soft. "Can we make blankets for the marmots?"
Baba Lena smiled, "Of course, little one!" She showed Anya how to thread the wool.
Anya's small fingers carefully pushed the shuttle, back and forth, back and forth.
