Anndrea loved her backyard. Especially the magnificent, ancient oak tree. Its branches reached high, inviting her to climb.
Up, up, up she went! Her hands gripped the rough bark. Higher than ever before, she found a hidden, mossy branch.
This branch felt different, soft and springy. With a gentle *whoosh*, Anndrea tumbled right onto its velvety surface.
Suddenly, the branch shimmered! Colors swirled around her, like a gentle, musical breeze. Where was she going?
She landed softly in a magical place! The sky pulsed with hues. Flowers glowed. The air itself hummed with soft, singing notes.
"Wow!" Anndrea whispered. Every leaf, every stone, seemed to hold its own special light. It was truly extraordinary.
Then, she saw a creature, shyly hidden behind a shimmering, sapphire bush. It was a unicorn!
Its coat was pearly white, but its rainbow mane looked faded. Its horn was a dull silver. "Hello?" Anndrea asked gently.
The unicorn, Lumie, stepped forward slowly. "My sparkle is gone," she whispered sadly. "I can't reflect the singing colors."
Anndrea looked around. "Everything here is so bright! Do you know why these colors sing so loudly?"
Lumie nodded. "Light from the sun is actually *all* colors mixed together! We call it the light spectrum."
When light hits something, it absorbs some colors and bounces others away. The color that bounces back is what we see!
"My sparkle lets me reflect *all* the colors beautifully," Lumie explained. "But when I feel sad, I absorb too much light."
Anndrea understood. Lumie wasn't reflecting her true self. "It's okay to feel shy," Anndrea said softly.
