📖 Read the Story

Alice, a tiny ginger kitten, was born on a bustling, noisy street. She was so small, with fur the color of marmalade, that most people hurried past without even noticing her.

The street was a whirring, rumbling place, full of strange smells and loud noises. Alice’s tummy rumbled too, like a tiny, empty drum. She felt very, very alone.

One blustery morning, a kind old man with a magnificent, curly white mustache spotted her. It was Mr. Piffle, on his way to the library.

“Goodness gracious, a miniature fluff-ball!” he exclaimed, his spectacles nearly tumbling off his nose. He gently scooped her up, careful not to startle her.

Alice was nervous, but Mr. Piffle’s hands were wonderfully warm. He smelled faintly of old books and biscuits. “You need a name, little one,” he mumbled.

He decided on Alice, because she looked like she’d tumbled straight out of a curious adventure. He carried her home to his wonderfully cozy, cluttered house.

Mr. Piffle’s house was a wonderland! Stacks of books leaned like towers, and strange, whirring inventions hummed softly in every corner. It was delightfully chaotic.

He gave Alice a soft, fluffy blanket by the pretend fireplace and a saucer of warm milk. She purred, a tiny motor starting up in her happy chest.

Alice grew bigger and stronger, becoming the mischievous queen of Mr. Piffle’s home. She loved chasing dust bunnies and untangling his yarn, which she often wore as a scarf.

One sunny afternoon, Alice had very important news. She kept nudging Mr. Piffle’s hand and meowing loudly, her tail twitching like a question mark.

Mr. Piffle, busy inventing a self-stirring tea spoon, finally understood. “You’re going to have kittens, Alice!” he gasped, nearly dropping his spectacles.

He prepared a special, extra-fluffy bed for her in a sunny spot. Alice purred, already imagining her tiny, playful family filling the house with joy.

Soon, three tiny bundles of fluff arrived! There was Whiskers, Patches, and quiet little Squeak. They were wobbly, sleepy, and absolutely adorable.

Whiskers, with his ridiculously long whiskers, tried to climb the curtains immediately. Patches, the bold calico, pounced on his wobbly tail, giggling.
