Abigail and the Giggle-Fruit Tree
A spirited girl discovers a magical tree that grows giggle-fruit, learning that true kindness comes from her actions, not just the fruit's magic, as she shares its joy with her grumpy and eccentric neighbors.

Abigail, with pigtails bouncing like happy springs, loved to dig for buried treasure in her wild backyard. One sunny morning, her shovel hit something tiny, yet it sparkled with all the colors of a secret rainbow.
It wasn't a pebble, or a button, or even a lost toy dinosaur. This was a seed, no bigger than her pinky nail, and it pulsed with a soft, magical light. "Wow!" she whispered, her eyes wide with wonder.
Carefully, Abigail tucked the sparkling seed into a pot near her tire swing. "Grow big and strong, little friend!" she told it. She watered it with a giggle, then went inside as the first stars began to peek out.
The next morning, Abigail rubbed her sleepy eyes. She glanced out her window, expecting her little pot. Instead, a colossal, shimmering marvel, taller than her house, filled her entire backyard!
It was a tree! Its trunk swirled with every color imaginable, its leaves glittered like jewels, and its branches twisted like giant candy canes. "A rainbow tree!" she shrieked, tumbling out the back door.
Hanging from its impossibly colorful branches were round, glowing fruits, each one humming softly. They looked like tiny, edible suns, sparkling with inner light. Abigail, still in her mismatched pajamas, reached for the nearest one.
She took a tiny bite. It tasted like sunshine, fizzy lemonade, and a burst of pure joy! Suddenly, her mismatched socks started dancing all by themselves, doing a silly jig. "Whee!" she giggled, spinning around.
As she danced, a thought popped into her head, clear as a bell: "This fruit makes wishes for kindness come true!" Her heart thumped with excitement. She knew just who needed a little extra kindness.
First, there was Mr. Grumbles, her next-door neighbor. He always looked like he'd just smelled a very sour lemon. His long, droopy mustache twitched whenever Abigail's bouncing pigtails came into view.
Abigail, holding a glowing fruit, tiptoed to his perfectly manicured fence. "Good morning, Mr. Grumbles!" she chirped. "Would you like a magical giggle-fruit?" He squinted, clutching his tiny watering can.
He grumbled, "Giggle-fruit? I wish for some quiet! My hedges are much too loud with their rustling." He snatched the fruit and took a bite. Instantly, his perfectly trimmed hedges began to sing opera, very loudly and off-key!
Mr. Grumbles clapped his hands over his ears, his mustache practically vibrating with indignation. "My hedges! My beautiful, quiet hedges!" Abigail scratched her head. That wasn't quite right at all.
Next, Abigail visited Mrs. Wigglebottom, who wore a hat shaped like a giant cupcake. Her parrot, Percy, squawked loudly from his perch. Mrs. Wigglebottom was trying to teach him to yodel.
Abigail held out another shimmering fruit. "Hello, Mrs. Wigglebottom! This fruit makes wishes for kindness come true!" Mrs. Wigglebottom beamed, adjusting her enormous cupcake hat.
